Oh Lonesome Me had his second race back from a spell, under new trainer Garry Kirkup on Monday at Queanbeyan over 1600m.

There was little pace early in the race, so jockey Richie Bensley decided to send the big fellow up to the front to sit outside the leader.

Oh Lonesome Me went to the front in the home straight but was unable to hold off the eventual winner Crying Hughes, who won by 0.2L with OLM finishing second.

Trainer Garry Kirkup and the horses manager Greg Harris have suggested the horse will go for another race over a mile before stepping up to the 2000m mark and beyond.
